As many of you know I’ve been slowing taking steps towards a big lifestyle change. I have realized that diets aren’t the way to go. I always crash and burn. Through my healthy lifestyle journey I’ve learned a few important things that I had NO CLUE about. Today, I’m going to share one the most important one I’ve learned so far. How important FIBER is in your diet. I’m going to share My Favorite Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie that is packed with fiber thanks to Meta-Mucil.

Fiber is essential to everyone’s nutritional needs. The average American is getting about 15 grams of fiber a day. But in actuality, we should be getting closer to 20 to 35 grams a day, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).  As you can tell, most Americans aren’t getting enough fiber in their diet. Fiber is important because it is one of the only things that doesn’t get broken down in our digestive system. Fiber actually flushes through your digestive system in almost the same way in was ingested. It keeps its form in order to aid in digestion. It also helps maintain a healthy weight by keeping you full longer.

Now, do you see why fiber is so essential to your everyday health?

Since I know there is no way I can eat that much fiber through just fruits and veggies, I like to use Meta-Mucil multi-health fiber in food and drinks.

I’ve never really been a breakfast person. I used to never eat or drink until about 11am. Since starting my healthy journey I’ve learned how important breakfast is when trying to lose or maintain your weight. So, since I’m not a big early morning eater, I decided that I needed to get those nutrients some way – and smoothies are the most ideal way for me.  I like to make many different varieties of smoothies, but today I’m going to share my basic Breakfast Smoothie with you.

 My Favorite Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Here is a list of ingredients

1/2 cup Meijer Vanilla Almond Milk

1/4 cup Meijer Vanilla Greek Yogurt

1 TBSP Agave Nectar

1/4 cup Rolled Oats

1 tsp Meta-Mucil Berry

1/2 cup of  Meijer Mixed Fruit (I love the peaches, Starwberries, Grapes, Cherries, and Pineapple) YUM!

1/2 Chia seeds (optional)

Add water to desired consistency

and Blend

Meta- Mucil has been a lifesaver for me. Every serving gets me 3 grams closer to my daily fiber intake.  It’s so convenient to add to anything I eat or drink to ensure I’m getting all my fiber for the day.
