If you took a peek into my closet you would see that I’m a lover of basics. They’re versitial, classic and nessassary in everyone’s wardrobe!
Honestly, if you looked into my closet you probably wouldn’t be that impressed. There are a lot of plain colored tshirts, blouses, dresses, about 25 pairs of jeans, and a ton of Blazers, kimonos and vests. I live by the rules of building a wardrobe around basics. That’s why you’ll see a ton of basics to pair with my trendier items like kimonos and vests, but also those classic pieces like Blazers.
When I saw this dress from Ollie Marie Boutique, I knew I had to have it! It has so much potential. It can be worn so many ways. With kit leggings, leather leggings, it can be worn with opaque tights, vests, jackets… I mean I could keep going but I’ll spare you. You get the idea, right?! It’s just one of those dresses you know you’ll get you money’s worth out of!
Today, I paired it with this beautiful faux fur vest I picked up at Burlington, threw on my favorite wide calf boots from Lane Bryant, just like that I had a cute stylish outfit in about two minutes flat.
Your body is the first to go, then your clothes because you don’t know how to dress your new body. And we all end up in yoga pants and T-shirt because we are tired, over the way we look, and we just don’t have the time or energy to think about how we look.
Were ditching the yoga pants.
I know, it’s tragic.
The only time I want to see yoga pants is if you just got done working out or if you’re about to go workout now. Or if you’re just hanging out at home.
Do not wear them as pants, people!! Please, I’m begging you!
I get asked fashion questions on the daily, and I love it! If you have any questions, please don’t ever hesitate to ask. Email them to me at Tawny@GlamorouslyMommy.com
The number one question I get is, “What are the staples I should have in my closet to build my wardrobe” Hands down, the number one question of ALL TIME!!! Honestly, I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write this post. Because I can tell in about 5 seconds, flat!
As a mom who tries to stay on trend, but also takes into account I have school aged children, and I want to look presentable and be comfortable. I have 6 Wardrobe Essentials for Plus Size Moms I’m going to share with you today!
We’re starting with the number one, hands down most important thing. A great pair of denim. This is why new moms, plus size moms, or any mom for that matter are wearing yoga pants. It’s because they aren’t wearing the right pair of denim jeans. I absolutely 100% believe in Hydraulic jeans. They are the softest, most comfortable denim brands EVER!! I believe every mom should own a few pairs. Check them out at Macy’s, Maurice’s, and Kohl’s.
2. A black blazer.
Blazers can be dressed up or be dressed down. I would suggest always trying them on because you want to make sure it’s structured, but comfortable to wear. My favorite blazers is from Maurice’s believe it or not. It’s more of a casual, but still structured enough to go either dressy or casual. I love it.
3. Basic plain tee’s or tanks.
Basic tees and tanks are a must because, like the blazer they can be dressed up or down. I love to pair a basic T-shirt with a scarf or chunky statement necklace and some killer shoe and there’s a fun look for day to-night. I love Old Navy Basic tee’s and tank’s
4. Statement Necklaces.
Oh, who doesn’t love a good statement necklace? I love them because they can either be the star of the look or an accessory to the look! My favorite way to wear a statement necklace is as the star of the look. Because I’m a mom and I can’t look like I’m going out on the town everyday because of time, and it’s just not comfortable when chasing kids. I love pairing ripped up denim with a basic tee or tank and a huge chunky necklace to pull the look together. I love ShopLately.com
Scarves are amazing. Like a statement necklace they can be worn to jazz up any plain, boring outfit. But the thing that makes scarves, different is they are so versatile. They can “tied” so many ways to create a fun look, but what I love the most is that they can be a “multi-purpose” item. Meaning they can be worn as belts, head wraps, shawls, and a scarf. My favorite place to get them is at Charlotte Russe They are cheap (quality) but they come in so many fun colors!
6. Fun shoes
Now don’t get me wrong. I love sky-high heels just as much as the next girl, but mama can’t rock them. No matter how hard I try, it too uncomfortable and I end up ditching them 15 minutes into wearing them. So the next best option is a wedge. They still offer the height you may be looking for, but they are more comfortable than heels. I love wedges, they’re cute and comfortable. What more can I ask for? Try picking up some fun colors for spring and summer! I love these.
OK, y’all. These 6 Wardrobe Essentials for Plus Size Moms are just some of what I like to have in my wardrobe to create fun, trendy, stylish outfit for the everyday mama.
