Time Out Tuesday: I’ve witnessed a miracle

Time Out Tuesday

The story starts when my mom have birth to me. It was a very complicated birth, we both almost lost our lives;  she was worse off than me. To save her life, a blood transfusion was necessary. Well, back in 1983 they didn’t run extensive tests on blood  as they do now. Right away, she knew something was wrong.  The doctors and nursed started acting strange.  I large team of doctors, nurses, and student doctors came into her room to discuss the situation. They never admitted that is was bad blood, but years later we found out that she had contracted Hepatitis C.

Fast forward to July of 2009.  My mom had experienced a lot of stomach issues. The issues had progressed to the point of her needing to seek emergency professionals. She was there for a few days, they were running tests, and trying to figure out the source of the problem.

I remember talking to her on the phone and saying, ” Mom, it’s not cancer is it?” She said, ” No, doll I don’t think so.” Little did we know just a few short days later, we would find out the bad news.  She did have cancer. In fact she had liver cancer, one of the most aggressive cancers, in with there is no cure. She was given six months to live.

Our  family was crushed. I couldn’t  imagine my life without my mom.  It had always been my mom, my sister, and me. ( My father had passed away many years before) Until my dad ( stepfather) looked at my sister and I, with a  look of determination like I had never seen before, and said, ” We’re going to fight this. I’m going to do everything in my power to get your mom healthy”. I knew he meant business.

So the process started. She underwent a tremendous amount of test, she was put on a liver transplant list. She was going to get a new liver. All of that came to a screeching halt when we found out that a small blood clot in her portal vein would hinder her from getting the transplant.

It was like a punch to the gut, but my dad’s words replayed in my head over and over.

The process started over more test, more doctors.

Finally, they stumbled upon and experimental treatment. The risks were high, but they went with it. The six month mark wasn’t far away.

She underwent the surgery, it worked!  But just six months later the cancer had come back. At this point we thought we were just buying more time with her.  They went back in doing the surgery a second time. It worked!!

The cancer was gone!! Praise the lord!!!

That was 4 1/2 years ago!!!!

Yes!!!! 4 1/2 years!!! My sweet mom had been cancer free for 4 1/2 years.

In fact, she was just given the news that she only needs to be checked every six months instead of every three months. Because there is NO trace of cancer. NONE!!

Many have said she is a medical miracle, and that her doctors are miracle workers.

I know who worked that miracle… The Lord

I had no plan on writing this story for Time Out Tueday. I was actually going to write about something completely different.

I believe The Lord put this on my heart for a reason today. If you are going through something that’s difficult. Call Upon The Lord, he is there he hears you when you don’t pray.  He  knows what you’re thinking even when you don’t speak it. And he will get you through it  if rely on his presence.

I read a daily devotional,  and I want to share some of  it with you today, because I know someone could use it.

NO MATTER WHAT  your circumstances may be, you can find Joy in My Presence. On some days Joy is generoulsy strewn along your life-path, glistening in the sunlight. On days like that, being content is as breathing the next breath or taking the next step. Other days are overcast and gloomy; you feel the strain of the journey, which seems endless. Dull gray rocks greet your gaze and cause your feet to ache. Yet Joy is still attainable. Search for it as for hidden treasure.

Begin by remembering that I have created this day; it is not a chance of occurrence. Recall that I am present with you whether you sense My Presence or not. Then, start talking with me about whatever is on your mind. Rejoice in the fact that I understand you perfectly, and I know exactly what you’re experiencing. As you continue communicating with me, your mood will gradually lighten. Awareness of My marvelous Companionship can infuse Joy into the grayest day. – Sarah Young, Jesus Calling
