Is sleepy kid a syndrome?
I’m really starting to wonder if, my daughter has sleepy kid syndrome. I’m serious when I say this. This girls has been sleeping like it’s her job!! I’m am not sure if she is growing, or if she is just off her schedule, due to being out of school for the summer. However, she has been staying up really late. I’m taking like 1am sometimes. My husband woke her up at 7:30 this morning, she woke up was talking and playing with her sister. I went and made coffee, started a load of laundry, checked my email. I noticed the Abigail was in her room, and I hadn’t heard Breanna so I go check and she is SLEEPING!!!
I wake her up again, and told her to get up out of the bed because obviously she can’t lie in bed without falling asleep. I go in the kitchen to make Abigail breakfast. Breanna is literally crawls down the hallway, being dramatic of course, I come around the corner after making Abigail’s breakfast. Home-girl is asleep in my hallway on a pile of laundry. I can’t believe my eyes!! I pick her up and take her to the couch, where she is still sleeping!!! I can’t get this kid to wake up!

By the looks of the photo your daughter may be 4 or 5 y/o? I am NOT a doctor…I only play one at work 😉 I’m a pre-school teacher. Children need 10-12 hours of sleep a night . I would let her sleep if she is staying up so late at night. She’ll wake when she is hungry but sleep is crutial for proper development. If she is consuming losts of carbs, sweets and empty calories after dinner this could keep her pumped until that time of the morning. I don’t know how you do it!? On summer nights even my 12.5 year old is in bed by 10pm. Summer days are full of exercise and fresh air which wears them out and gets them to sleep.
I would suggest talking to your Pediatrician if her symptoms worsen or changes in behavior such as eating or bowel movements, or achy joints.
Best wishes for more sleepful nights! From one mom to another 😉

Thank you so much for your input! She’s actually almost 7 she’s just a small fry. We eat healthy dinners, and they hardly ever get sweets. During the school my kids are in bed by 8pm so I think she either growing, or just got out of her school routine. Thank you again for you input I always like another mom’s opinion!
