Our emergency room visit
Well, we had quite the eventful start to our weekend! Breanna had been complaining of a stomach ache for about 3 days. Which was nothing new, she ALWAYS says her stomach hurts, or she doesn’t feel good. Normally she says it hurts before bed, or if I ask her to clean her room. She’s 7. She will pull anything to try and sleep with her mama (Yes, they still sleep with us) or get out of cleaning. Sigh.
Friday we had a birthday party to go to so I gave them a bath, and as soon as Breanna got out she started complaining of stomach pain. I asked if she was ok, and she said she thought so.
I continued to get ready. I was blow drying my hair, and I heard yelling. It was Breanna in my room. I went in to check on her and she was curled up in the fetal position yelling out in pain saying it was her right side. The first thing that came to mind was her Appendix . I called the doctor, and they said to watch her, and if the pain got any worse got to the ER. The pain seemed to go away for about 45 minutes, but came back stronger than ever. Off to the ER we went.
We got to the ER and they got her back pretty quick. The doctor can in and examined her and said, “I want to do some blood work and a CT scan, because when I push on that right side her muscles and tensing up like they are protecting something.” I immediately felt the tears welling up in my eyes. I was so scared, the thought of her going under for surgery made me stroke!
They started the IV which was her first ever IV, and much to my surprise she didn’t cry or flinch! I was so proud of her, and so was the nurse.
Soon after she got her IV she had to drink this solution that had dye in it so they could see her organs when they did the CT scan. About and hour later she was off the get her CT scan.
She thought this was the coolest thing she had ever done! She got done and said, “That was fun mama!” Thank GOD everything was fine. Her appendix looked normal. The doctor did say that they saw a TON of POOP in there. Really??? All of this because she is constipated. I do have to say that she had been pooping. We went home with a prescription of Miralax. By Saturday she was good to go! Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers on Facebook and Instagram.
