Plus Size Fashion is about to make a Huge Splash!

For far too long the fashion world has shied away from  or quite frankly dismissed plus size fashion. Period. The world we live it is all about what is visually pleasing.  Tall and rail thin. Well, Anna Wentour just through a huge gauntlet down on the misconception that curvy isn’t just as beautiful, by putting Kate Upton on the June cover of Vogue! She also had a few choice words to for  “mainstream” high- fashion industry. Anna Wintour writes of the magazine’s June cover model Kate Upton, “if the high-fashion world seems incapable of figuring out what to do with her … then that’s it’s loss.”   

This is HUGE for the curvy girls in the world. Anna Wintour one of the world most influential people in fashion just took one for the curvy girls’ team! Not only did Anna have our back Michael Kors ( which is my hands down favorite designer) was quoted saying this “It harks back to the seventies, when we first had models like Patti Hansen and Christie Brinkley. They were sexy, but they were also athletic. And I think that Kate is very much that. You see her, and her skin is glowing; she’s got a gorgeous smile. It’s optimistic. It’s not about a sad girl on the corner. It’s about a girl who’s enjoying herself.”

Now let’s not get ahead of ourselves and call Kate Upton plus size. Let’s just make it clear that there is nothing plus size about her; but she is curvy and the high- fashion world doesn’t know what to do with curvy girls, and that’s sad. In the US the average American women is a 14- 16. Why wouldn’t retailers and the  fashion world start to take notice?
