The Influence Conference Recap
Wow! This weekend was amazing… I have prayed for The Lord to give me the words he wants me to speak to you about this amazing community of women, and how I was changed.
First, If you don’t know what the The Influence Conference is, and you’re a believer in the gospel you need to read all about it.
The Lord has blessed me y’all! He has blessed me with you… my readers. He has blessed me with a community of women that I can help empower and inspire.
For so long I have been afraid of failure, not having enough readers, success, and NUMBERS. The numbers kill me. It’s been a constant struggle for me to just not focus on the numbers, the number of followers, the number of readers. Comparing my numbers to the numbers of other bloggers.
This weekend I learned its not about the numbers… At all!
I learned If I help to inspire one woman, then I have done what I have been called to do.
I learned by not using the gifts The Lord has given me I’m doing a disservice to him.
If I know good news I need to spread it… And I will!
The Lord has put this blog on my heart, he has put all of you on my heart. And I’m here. For the first time I’m here for the right reason.
I’m not here for the makeup, the hair, I’m not here for what’s on the outside at all. It’s ok to like those things and it’s ok to care about what you look like on the outside, but what’s most important is what’s on your heart, what’s on your minds, what you’re going through.
Tell me… Let me know how I can help. Let me know how to pray for you. I care…I really and truly care.
I want you to know this blog is going to the same as it was before, but better. It’s going to be better; I know that he is working something in me bigger than me. We are still going to talk about beauty & fashion, but it’s now for his glory.
This conference was life changing for me in many ways. I got me meet some amazing ladies that love The Lord like me! Here are just a few:
Mandy from House Of Rose. You guys, she was seriously so sweet. I had the chance to sit with her and some other ladies at dinner the first night. We got back to the hotel and had some time before the Shoe Cutting Party started. Mandy knew I didn’t have a room to hang out in so she invited me to her room. It’s really warmed my heart.
Tonya from Love Of Family and Home. Tonya was great! She showed me a few tips on how to use my DSLR in manual mode! Yeah, buddy!
Ok, so here’s where I started to get all fan girl. This is Kate from The Small Things Blog. She was one of the speakers. Of course I went to her talk. I walk in a room, that is filling up with people and she says, “Are you GlamorouslyMommy on Instagram?” (The look on my face was probably a very close resemblance to a deer in headlights.) I awkwardly respond, “Yes, GlamorouslyMommy.” she says, ” Kate, nice to meet you!” I respond, ” Tawny, nice to meet you!” I was in shock. Who am I kidding? I’m still in shock!
This was the last night of The Influence Conference. This is where the things I had learned, and the gifts The Lord revealed to me started making sense. This was a great group of women in may different seasons of life. We gathered together at a table, not even knowing each other. At one point we went around the table and talked about what we learned. The anxiety immediately started rising in my body, I didn’t know what to say. It became my turn, and these words were put on my heart, and I spoke, “I learned it’s not about the numbers, if I can inspire and empower one woman I’ve done what I was called to do.”
I’m all in Lord… Use me how you want.
Amen!

Amen! It’s hard not to get wrapped up in the numbers and comparisons. My heart so needed this conference. And The Lord blessing me with new friends made it even more special.

Yes, it’s so hard. I’m so glad I got to spend time with you, and I’m so glad you got what you needed out of this experience, friend.

I saw you around, though I didn’t get to say hi! I think that lesson about the numbers not being important is a good one. Quality is more needed than quantity, that’s for sure!

Thank you!

That’s so exciting Kate recognized you from Instagram! Sometimes I think the Lord just likes to floor us with things like that to remind us both that He sees us and that we’re the same as the people we might put on a pedestal. I love your truths from Influence, and I love that you aren’t changing what your blog’s about, but you are building it around Who gave those passions to you. That, I think, is the best action plan you could bring back from Influence!

what a great thing to gain from the conference – the reminder that it’s not about the numbers. One of the most releasing things I ever did on my blog was remove my GFC widget. Sometimes I worry that people don’t know how to follow in that way, but it has been nothing but refreshing. I didn’t realize just HOW MUCH those numbers will binding me. I saw you across the room one of the nights and felt the urge to say hello but didn’t (I get really anxious about what to say after “hi”) and I want to say I’m sorry! I wish I had. Thank God for the internets 🙂 Also, I would have fan-girled too!
